Every Choice Matters

Just as my artwork often incorporates reused and repurposed elements as an extension of my sustainability philosophy, my commitment to making ecological and ethical choices extends to the materials I use for packaging and mailing. Whenever possible, I choose products that are 1) made from sustainable and/or recycled materials, 2) recyclable, and 3) made by fair wage labor. That includes:

  • Clear Poly Bags made from 100% recycled content, recyclable at grocery drop offs or wherever #4 flexible plastic is accepted; manufactured in the USA

  • Rigid Mailers made from from 100% recycled content (90% post-consumer content) and are fully recyclable and naturally biodegradable; made in the USA

  • Envelope Seals made from 100% recycled paper.

  • Shipping Labels made from 100% post-consumer content paper and using recycle-compatible adhesive so that they are fully recyclable

Choosing more sustainable materials does result in an increased operating cost. It’s important to remember, however, that cheaper materials are generally being subsidized by hidden costs to the environment through unsustainable practices and to workers through unfair labor practices.

I hope that you will choose to continue this sustainability cycle by reusing or recycling the packaging and mailing materials included with your order. Or even better, repurpose them into your artwork!
